Fishing

Arkansas River & Lake Langhofer
Arkansas has no closed season on sport fishing, and the Arkansas River at Pine Bluff and Lake Langhofer offer some of the state's best action for largemouth bass and panfish. The Jefferson County Regional Park Complex provides convenient access to Lake Langhofer and the Arkansas River, with six boat launching ramps and a boat dock located in the park.

Arkansas River and Bayou Bartholomew
Some of the best bass fishing in the state can be found on the Arkansas River, while the Bayou provides opportunity to fish for catfish. Both offer excellent bream and crappie fishing. Besides largemouth bass, the river holds good populations of crappie, bluegill and catfish. The Arkansas Ford Dealers Big Bass Bonanza, held in July each year, give amateur anglers a chance to win prize money for the best catch from a 300 mile stretch of the Arkansas River

Located near Star City, the 1,760-acre lake is part of an Arkansas Cane Creek State Park . Angle for bluegill, catfish, crappie and largemouth bass.

Cox Creek Lake
Located in the western part of the county, this little lake near Sheridan is a favorite spot for good catches of crappie, bluegills, bass and catfish.

Saline River
Float fishermen are particularly fond of the stretch of the Saline River from the northwestern corner of the county to Jenkins' Ferry near our southern boundary. Picnicking and swimming are popular at Jenkins' Ferry Historical Monument south of Sheridan.

Golfing

Sharpen your game at Harbor Oaks Championship Golf Course Pine Bluff, where the challenging par 72 layout features Ben Crenshaw bent grass greens, views of the Arkansas River and white sand bunkers using the same type sand as used at Augusta. The daily fee course also has a large driving range, fully-stocked pro shop and fine restaurant for 19th hole relaxing.

The Jaycee Memorial Golf Course, a nine-hole public layout, has Bermuda fairways, an exciting new par 3, 220-yard hole and three sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels.

Pine Bluff's Rosewood Country Club, designed by Alfred H. Tull, and the Pine Bluff country club courses are also popular year-round courses.

Livestock Shows & Rodeos

Southeast Arkansas District Livestock Show and Rodeo
Hestand Stadium is the setting for this premier regional event, now in its 61st year, which is held annually in Pine Bluff. Besides the livestock judging and exciting P.R.C.A. rodeo competition, the fun also includes a talent show, carnival, parade, chuckwagon races, bands performing on the midway nightly and appearances by country music stars and other personalities.

Taylor Field Tournaments
Originally built for professional baseball with grandstand, press box and 90-foot base path. The field plays host to National and Regional tournaments.

Parks

Cane Creek State Park
Located near Star City, Arkansas, Cane Creek State Park is a popular destination for year round kayaking, hiking, biking and wildlife viewing. Guided tours and special events combine with the natural splendor of the land to make this park a 'must see' Arkansas destination.

Pine Bluff Public Park

Jenkins Ferry
Picnicking, floating and swimming are popular at Jenkins Ferry Historical Monument south of Sheridan on the Saline River.

Pine Bluff Public Parks
Pine Bluff features 20 City Parks with playgrounds and wide open spaces for family fun. Our popular Regional Park features four softball fields, 53 RV hookups, hiking trails, a model airplane mini airport, picnic and play areas, sand beaches, boat launches, an 18- hole gold course, a restaurant and clubhouse.

Star City Mini Park
Tennis courts, a playground, and picnic area provide fun for the whole family in this lovely southeast Arkansas town.
